I will be using these materials in several different ways! Having a diverse library allows me to pull from my classroom library for special lessons rather than going to the school library. I will be able to choose special read alouds that vary in subject for my students. Having a comfortable reading area using open shelves and a rug, along with diverse materials that my students relate to will help me to establish a love of reading rather than a forced initiative. These students need to feel like they are making the choice to read rather than me telling them they must read a certain topic and/or genre. I want my students to see my love of reading and try to model it!
