The students I serve come from highly impoverished African-American neighborhoods. While most of our parents have not gone to college, or finished high school, many want their child to excel in school and have opportunities that they never had the chance to experience. My students are gifted, meaning by definition "Children who give evidence of high performance capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, or specific academic fields, and who require services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop such capabilities." They are inquisitive, creative, determined, and motivated to make a difference in the world. It is my goal to guide them in learning and help receive the knowledge and skills necessary to compete and succeed in today's fast paced society. To help, my students need access to resources and tools to help them be successful in the classroom.
