The kids of Room 21 here at West Portal public school are diverse and imaginative young scientists, explorers, writers and artists. Throughout the year we engage in many projects across many fields of study. In science we work to understand lessons of ecology and sustainability by working in a local park and planting native species. In social studies we look to bring California history alive in our art, poetry, songs and original dramas. We recently wrote a jamming accordion backed tune describing California regions. In language arts, we collaborate to produce original operas. We would love to record our creations and post them for families to find and enjoy. In math we are building our skills in multiplication and division, and having fun creating stories to make sense of our numbers. Our students also seek to raise the fun, enjoyment and learning at every opportunity. Thanks for helping us stay inspired!
