Our school is located in a low income urban setting south of San Diego. Most of the students are English language learners, and I have worked hard to inspire them to read independently and develop an interest in science. Many of my students have never even been to the public library, let alone have books at home to read. Therefore, our school has been focused on reading comprehension and has shown great gains in this area in recent years. Future scientists don't discover who they are in elementary school unless provided the opportunity to learn with engaging materials.

About my class
