Students need to play ukulele with the class rather than waiting for a turn to play. All students rotate through the playing activities: I use the following sequence when teaching my students. Sing the melody first. When the song is secure students play the melody on Ukulele. Next step is to learn chords on Ukulele. We sang and played the melody on Ukulele. Next we played chords and sang the song. Finally, put it all together! Students sang with all of the above variations on the spring concert. Some of my students have since gotten their own Ukuleles!
