We try to challenge our students academically, but we also try to have fun. By engaging students in clubs, assemblies, and other extracurricular activities, we try to make our school a true second home for our kids, the majority of whom are immigrants or first generation Americans. Visitors to our school note the great dynamics between teachers and students and our great community spirit. Like most teens and preteens, our students love social networking. They think they know everything and are tech savvy, until we bring them to a computer lab to work. No touch screen??? A keyboard??? Our students may be proficient when it comes to social networking but not when it comes to computer literacy and productivity. When bringing them to work in a computer lab, computer illiteracy is even more evident, and it doesn't help when our kids have to use computers that run Windows XP and MS 2003. For kids that have a short attention span, our computers just won't do.
