I plan to use the supplies requested to create a therapeutic recovery center in my classroom. I am going to have a designated space in my class where students who are having a difficult time, due to their disability, will be able to go to calm down and process their emotions. This space will have the various sensory tools and fidget toys that I have requested for the students to use to refocus and deal with their stress. I have also requested Wobble Cushions for each of the seats in my classroom as this tool will help my students remain focused in class so that they can access their academics. Many of my students have a difficult time sitting still for a full class period. This tool will give them the ability to move and fidget while remaining focused on the activity at hand, without disrupting the learning of others. Having these resources available will greatly increase my students' ability to learn by giving them a space and the resources they need to work through their emotions, so that they can continue to access the curriculum. The lifelong coping skills that my students will learn by using this recovery center will help them through graduation and beyond. Thank you very much for your contribution to this project.
