My students require a variety of sensory items to help them remain calm and focused in the classroom. Many of my students need walk breaks due to their excess energy. Being able to provide them with sensory tools will cut down on their energy and allow them to spend more time in the classroom community and less time walking the hallways. My students need a class set of Yuck-E-Balls and Kit Ball sensory balls to squeeze, Cushion Sits to allow movement when sitting, and Rapper Snappers and Finger Squash Its to remain calm and focused during class. While I am teaching, sensory items will allow my students to remain at their desks and participate in the classroom discussions or group work. We enjoy a variety of lessons, not just desk work; however, there are times when this type of work is necessary. Using sensory items during desk work will improve my students' ability to learn like everyone else!
