I have a lively classroom of 21 four year olds in Baltimore City Public Schools. My children are in love with school and with learning. They need to move and dance and play and be captivated by my lessons, which always begin with a good book. The funnier, the better and it doesn't take much to crack them up. They love to rhyme and chant and read along with me. They keep me on my toes and keep me smiling all day long. My school is in a new, beautiful building, which is a huge asset to learning. The lovely surroundings make it easy to forget that I am still in a city school where resources are slim and teachers are responsible for purchasing their own materials. I have attained everything I need to get my classroom up and running and now it is time to fill my bookshelves with big books and read-aloud books to engage my students. I am focusing on art books due to the lack of an art program at my school. What fun it is to help young children see themselves as true artists.
