Activity throughout the school day helps students learn more and stay engaged. In the photograph, you can see the wonderful second-grade classroom where I was a student teacher. My kids are accustom to a variety of flexible seating options but as a first-year teacher, I do not have these options. The materials I have chosen are a great way to start building the classroom they need and deserve. Partner activities, independent reading, sensory breaks and writing the room, these are just a few examples of how the materials I am requesting can be used to make my students' learning experiences even more meaningful. Imagine students hunting for clues placed around the classroom, clipboards, and markers in hand, solving equations, or unscrambling spelling words. Visualize students immersed in a book seated comfortably on a cushion in their favorite reading spot. Please help us make these ideas a reality and support our classroom community to expand their learning environment.
