We work daily on building the small muscles in our hands to help us improve our functional fine motor skills. Fine motor skills involve the use of the small muscles that control the hand, fingers, and thumb. We have students of many and varying abilities and need a good supply of sturdy, easy-to-clean manipulatives (blocks, sorting jars, textured letters and numbers, etc.) to create stations and task boxes. Fine Motor skills help children perform important tasks like feeding themselves, grasping toys, buttoning and zipping clothes, writing, drawing, and more. These are all essential skills to be successful and independent at home and in the school environment.
