Chromebooks and headphones in my classroom will help my students continue academic learning in spite of COVID-19 in three ways. They will be able to improve their literacy, foreign language development, and be able to work to expand their intellect by making cognitive gains. The quality of a person's communication will determine the quality of life they will live. My students need to learn to convey information through a variety of means, including digital platforms. The better they can convey information, the more able they will be to lead people, innovate, and solve problems. All of this early work will prepare them to attend college and contribute to the amazing advances in their chosen careers. To obtain a second language, my students need repeated exposure to correct pronunciation, accentuation, and proper language principles. Chromebooks and headphones will allow my students to hear the language spoken perfectly and pace themselves in strengthening the language skills they desire to master. Lastly, Chromebooks will promote cognitive gains in my students because they will be able to take assessments online. Data collected from those assessments can be used to chart growth and improvement. Also, Chromebooks give my students thousands upon thousands of sources of information they can use to research important topics or ideas. The more sources they are given, the more important it is for them to employ critical thinking skills to process that information as relevant or irrelevant or true or false.
