I teach 45 active 2nd graders, each coming to me with not only their own personality, but also their own learning style. Each child learns best in their own way, and in this case, their own seating choice. As adults, we rarely sit perfectly still in one spot for longer than 30-45 minutes; especially in an uncomfortable, hard chair. Why should we expect our students to? My goal in this project is to provide students with a wide variety of seating choices. In order to do this, I am going to get rid of the old-style desks and chairs and replace them with tables, rugs, stools, stability balls, beanbags, and tools to keep them actively engaged. After this project is funded, ALL of my students will be comfortable while meeting their maximum potential!
