I teach high school reading at a second chance school. I work with the kids who typically have not been successful in traditional schools. Most of my students are struggling readers and for many we are the last stop on the school to prison pipeline. I have seen many students turn their lives around with the support of caring and dedicated teachers. Having strong reading skills can be extremely important in breaking the destructive cycles many of my students are in. It is so important that they get differentiated reading instruction. It is my goal to help my students learn the importance of reading in their daily lives.
