The 30 G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education) students I teach this year live in a high-need, gang infested neighborhood where the family works so hard to provide food on the table. Parents depend on the school for the free breakfast and lunch program, as well as the after school program, to help take care of the children while they are working late hours. Our class is involved in the MERITO Academy which is a program by NOAA to teach stewardship of the oceans. Our students are learning about the ocean, marine animals, plants, and how to become better stewards of the Earth. This project will help students go beyond their experiences with current technology and help spread what they are learning to a greater audience and their peers. Terrific Technology is what our student population needs to have a 21st century education. Thanks for your support!
