If there is one thing that I know students need, it is effective modeling. If the student does not understand how to construct an essay or how to properly annotate a passage, they will continue struggling until someone takes the time to show them how to do it. This is where the document camera will come in handy. It will be used to show students how to correctly annotate a passage, which will ultimately help them on the end of year state mandated assessment. Annotation builds comprehension as it develops a relationship between the text and the reader, and that is what my students really need. With the document camera, 'mark the text' will no longer sound like a foreign word to them. Now they will understand how to mark the text and why it is such an effective technique for continuous comprehension. With this camera, they will be able to see every single step in action and that is the foundation of I do - we do - you do.
