My students need building sets, magnetic design centers, and ramps/rollercoaster activities to have hands-on learning and problem solving opportunities. All of these items allow my students the ability to explore and manipulate various items to create something new and/or to problem solve through out their endeavor. Using manipulative allows kids to try the different things their brains are thinking and make it concrete! The different mediums will attract the senses and interests of the individual students and allow them to come together and work together. These items are not only meeting math requirements, but also providing situations for the kids to use their language, organizational, social, and science skills. Transitional Kindergarten is All Hands and Brains! Thank you so much.
