Nelson Mandela said that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Through my work at a dynamic, urban, public school, I am doing all I can each day to hopefully make the world a little bit better. I have 25 second graders from diverse families. They have different backgrounds, speak different languages, and have a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. We are a K-5 school in California with about 400 students. My families are extremely supportive and are asked to give all year long. They want the best for their children and do whatever they can. I am hoping that organizations like this allow me the opportunity to give back to them as well and create more opportunities for my students.
