Teaching in a Title I school, assumptions are often made about the students and families that we serve. There are many hurdles that can stand in their way, such as English as a second language, qualifications for free lunch due to poverty, and lowered opinions of ability because of factors not in their control. However, my students are capable of reaching high expectations. They are amazing, kind, hardworking, and have a thirst for learning. They need access to technology and language building resources so that they can compete in the 21st century world. Many of our students don't have access to technology at home and having access to incredible resouorces at school will help prepare them to meet the challenges in middle/high school, and beyond into college. Having these skills will give them the confidence to compete in their future job markets.
