In a story-telling classroom, it is important to offer a variety of different books and magazines, which appeal to a diverse group of readers. The magazines I chose are for levels 1-3 and offer articles about topics that are current and culturally significant. The readers I chose are simple, easy to follow and helpful because of the glossary in the back of the book. My goal is to incorporate these readers and magazines in both free- reading, small group reading and whole class reading time. Reading is important for new vocabulary development, as well as reinforcement of the structures that our stories introduce. I have already started a small classroom library for this purpose, but I can't do this alone. As you can tell from our project photo, our beginner section still lacking many books. I need your help to create an amazing classroom library, to help my students grow in language proficiency, and to make them life-long learners of the German language and culture.
