These biotechnology supplies, the Gel Electrophoresis kits, will allow my students to interact with DNA in a realistic hands on way. These are real techniques that are performed on DNA to analyze, compare and learn more about species. DNA is one of those content areas that is microscopic and can be very hard for students to visualize. By having a lab where they can see how DNA expands and separates out will help them to see how it such a unique and amazing molecule. My students come from a lower income community and providing these higher biotechnology practicies will open their eyes to what happens in science. This will hopefully spark interest in the science field for their future which will open up more poosibilities to work in high level science careers.
