I am very proud to teach literacy and math to 5th-6th grade special education students at a neighborhood school in Chicago. Our school prides itself on reaching every student and tapping into each student's interests, preferences, and learning strengths. My students are eager to learn and work hard every day, and I am constantly amazed at the progress they make over the course of a year. Unfortunately, many students lack the resources to purchase necessary school supplies. Additionally, our district is experiencing a severe financial crisis, and I can not be guaranteed that my school will have funds to provide materials and supplies to help my students learn.
