We are a busy, curious, diverse 5th grade class speaking at least 8 different languages at home. Our students are into art, music (singing ALL the words to Frozen), SOCCER, softball, gymnastics, basketball, and football. And of course, they're crazy about video games and computers. We belong to the school’s award-winning Green Team Club that recycles paper goods, composts lunch waste, and plants healthy school vegetable gardens. Our school recycles about 25 tons of material in a school year—that’s approximately the weight of 5 African elephants! Our California K- 5 “magnet” school, using a lottery, draws students from the entire school district. When we first formed, we stressed the basics: Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, Respect, and Responsibility. Flash forward to 2014 – 2015 and we have added another basic, Computer Skills geared for modern S.T.E.M. subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
