The materials on this list will help to create a Makerspace in my classroom for my students. Using the Circuit Playground, my students will learn about computer science, how to code, develop programs and bring their creations to life. I will be integrating this into our regular classroom lessons to augment their learning experience and bring it to a new level. My students are our future; leaders, politician, scientist, teachers, farmers, bankers and engineers, it's my job to ensure that they become creators of technology instead of consumers of technology. The materials on this list will be used with lessons and task cards I have created to develop my students' critical thinking skills. They will need to think creatively to collaboratively at times to develop structures, solve problems and create various solutions to real-world problems. Before students can create and develop on a digital platform, it’s important that they learn how to collaborate, design, test, think critically and work together in teams! The utility cart will be used as a mobile center for my students. It will give them versatility and movement to work where they learn best. The easel stand, magnetic blocks, marble runs, building bricks, pipe cleaners, straw building kit will be used as STEAM materials that my students will use to learn the Design Process and will be integrated into our classroom lessons! The books and magnetic hooks will be used in the classroom in our classroom library and to hang student work and anchor charts! The flexible seating choices will provide my students with an environment that is conducive to their learning style. My dream is to provide opportunities for my students to develop skills like critical and computational thinking; to become problem solvers, active listeners, collaborators; to develop their communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
