My students are like any other middle school teenager. They are loud, they are spontaneous, they are unfiltered, and they are unsure of themselves. I make my classroom cozy and welcoming for all my students. I feel like my decor and the overall feel of the room give that feeling of home away from home. If a student feels comfortable in a classroom, then they are more likely to open up while in class and be open minded to learning. I have heaters in my room to also help with their comfort since my classroom is usually very cold. I treat all students fair and I treat them as though they are equal to each other. I am firm, but encouraging. I have high expectations for their learning, which they are aware of, and I do all I can to help prepare them for their future. I expect them to always give me a level 5 effort in all that they do.
