My students attend a public elementary school that houses students from pre-k to 5th grade. Many of the students throughout the school are from low income families and qualify for free or reduced meals. Some of them come from very difficult circumstances such as children in foster care, homeless families, or live in extreme poverty. Everyday these students attend school and do their best no matter what the circumstances are at home. There are 18 students in my first grade classroom that come to school each day full of energy and ready to learn. Each student brings something special to our class and when one is missing, the room is simply not the same. These students look at one another as a family and are always willing to help their classmates as well as myself. They are the sweetest group of children and deserve the best.
