My young scholars love having community circle time, and sitting as a group when we do whole-group learning. It helps them to focus and practice their "whole body listening". I truly tried to use the carpet that was originally in the room. It was so muddy that the white part of the carpet became brown. I tried steaming it, vacuuming it with a carpet cleaner, picking the bugs off it, and scrubbing it. However, even with all the effort, I felt guilty to let my students sit down on the "cozy" carpet, and decided to not have it in my classroom. Despite not having a carpet, the students still choose to sit on the floor to learn and grow. Having a carpet in the classroom would truly make my students so happy, and they will be very excited to know that they do not have to sit on the floor anymore. Because whole group time is a daily thing, I know that getting a carpet will be worth every penny.
