Kids need to be able to move. Especially during a 90 minute math block. Flexible seating will help keep my students engaged and focused during class by allowing them move at their desks without disrupting classmates. Currently my students only have a 30 minute lunch. Recess is included in that 30 minute period. P.E. is twice a week with one of those periods dedicated to health. Therefore my students don’t have enough opportunities to move and 11 and 12 year olds really need to move. Studies say that letting kids move in the classroom helps boost attention and focus. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them opportunities to move within the classroom while still engaging in learning. The wobble seats and ball seats will allow students movement while seated at their desks and the stationary bikes with desks will give restless legs something to do while working. These products will also serve as incentives for good behavior because my most challenging students will want to use these types of seats instead of chairs. With these types of flexible seatings, my students will be able to express themselves kinesthetically, focus and learn to their highest potential.
