I am an elementary STEAM resource teacher tasked with educating over 700 students kindergarten through fifth grade. My classroom and position are trailblazing for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. It will be the first time that a STEAM class has been offered at the elementary level in Chesterfield County, Virginia. My goal is to provide my students with opportunities to collaborate, design, create, and reflect on learning through the engineering design process via all aspects of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics). My position is new, the classroom is fresh, and we (students and I) are in need of makerspace materials, art supplies, technological devices, and hands-on learning tangibles. I want my students ready to take on STEAM with innovation, imagination, and creativity!
