Our Developmental K-2 class is made of up special needs children who deserve the chance to access the curriculum in a way that is engaging and understandable to the complex learners that they are. Our children are both verbal and non verbal and have a variety of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorders and Down Syndrome. In order for them to access the curriculum, we need specific supplies and classroom resources. Not only do we teach our kids age level academics, we are teaching them coping strategies, daily living skills and social skills. In order to reach each of them, we need to first understand and accept them. We need to find ways to reach them, calm them and teach them. Every teacher loves seeing the "A-HA" moment on a students face, and when our kids have their own "a-ha" moment, it is even more satisfying for us then we could ever describe. Help us help them have their very own A-HA moment.
