Students enrolled in the Transitional Learning Center for Behavior at Milwaukie High School are life-long learners. They are curious, brave, and above all - gritty. Their unique abilities speak to the nature of their character. Inside a much larger school, we are a special class community who learn and grow together. We value equity, kindness and speaking our truth, whatever that may be. Our rooms are safe spaces for students to receive additional emotional and academic support throughout their high school career. Students who participate in my year-long Songwriting course are taken on a crash course of what it means to be an artist. Through examining various styles, genres, and music history, students are provided with the opportunity to compose original music, lyrics, album artwork and more through the use of Garageband. Units include Blues, Protest Songs, Love Songs, and Jingles.
