My goal is to create a learning environment that will enhance student participation and focus. By providing flexible seating, student achievement will increase. The plan is to create several different learning environments through the classroom to motivate students to stay on task. The classroom will have 4 sections. The first will be a stand-up desk area where students can work standing up. The second is the wiggle chairs area with traditional desks. The third area will be a lowered table with pillows as seats. Many students at this age enjoy working on the floor. The final area will be scoop rocker chairs with lap desks. These are for students that like to work independently in a quiet area. These chairs are easily moved around the classroom. Getting the wiggles is common with third grade students. In this particular request for funds, I am requesting money to purchases 5 wiggle chairs. Wiggle chairs are a perfect complement to a flexible seating classroom.
