Westwood Heights Students are energetic, talented, fun, and love to learn! They are excited for learning opportunities that allow them to be actively engaged and they look for ways to incorporate their learning into every day experiences both inside and outside of school. Due to the ongoing water crisis in this Flint community, the socio-economic challenges that many of their families face, and the fact that the Westwood Heights Schools have not had a music program for many years, Westwood heights students have been limited to their exposure to music and the arts. As their music teacher, it is my goal to provide students with a rich and culturally diverse music education that is aligned with the current National Standards in the Arts practices, as well as provide students opportunities to interact with the arts through music, dance and theater, in ways that they can express themselves creatively!
