Helping my students understand our differences and showing kindness to all is something I work on every day. This great selection of multicultural books will give my students an opportunity to celebrate the many qualities we share and the differences that make each of us unique. My students will be able to improve fluency while learning to appreciate our differences all at the same time. My students want to be readers, but they lack the skills in fluency. This listening center and diverse books from the Multicultural Stories Paperback Library will build those skills for success. Research has shown that beginning readers benefit from read alouds. Daily read aloud helps them hear what reading should sound like by modeling the use of expression and phrasing. The listening center will give my learners the opportunity to hear what fluent reading sounds like and the books will introduce to cultures they may not experience otherwise.
