There are three AP Calculus classes at the school. Each class is composed of about 20 students. These are the students that want to major in engineering, science, or mathematical fields after graduating from high school. This year, the school created more sections of this class to give more students the opportunity to take advantage of AP courses. This expansion in courses created a need for technology and books. The school population is culturally diverse made out of 85 percent economically disadvantage students and the majority of students don't have access to a computer at home, much less any software that would complement their learning of mathematics. These students are capable of succeeding in passing the AP Calculus Exam as long as they have the resources needed to understand the mathematics.
