My students represent the spectrum. I have many students with well educated parents who expect them to be successful. I have others that are emancipated minors and will be the first in their families to graduate high school. Our school is about 50% open enrollment so they come from all over town. Our school is a high performing school in a high performing district, but that doesn't mean every kid is at that level. Some kids can't buy a calculator that they will have to be able to use in order to pass a future high stakes test.
