I am always looking for ways to make writing interesting and enticing for my middle school students. I teach 6th grade Reader's Theater Literacy Exploratory and 7th grade Core (English/History) to students of varied ability levels. 25% of my students have special needs and receive RSP support or ELD support, while many others are designated GATE (Gifted and Talented in Education). Of our 430 students, nearly half come from low-income households. Our school is designated a Program Improvement (P.I.) School, and every day our incredible staff and administration wrestles with stark facts of declining enrollment, drastic budget cuts, and preparations for the inevitable, upcoming CST's. But in the classrooms on campus, and in my classroom, you will see creative solutions coming to fruition. Finding motivating and authentic opportunities for learning is my primary focus. Technology, I believe, is the key.
