In my classroom we are a family, & like a family we work really hard to make sure each member is taken care of and not left behind. I teach 6th grade in a low-socioeconomic area with a high number of English learners. In my classroom I have students reading as low as the first grade level. Many of our family members struggle reading the 6th grade anthology so our class likes to use novels (at each student's level) to learn grade level common core standards. We have fun in science and social studies! We are learning about Egypt so we made Barbie doll mummies! To connect our S.S. with science, we are working on an experiment to see what will dehydrate our bodies (apples) best...salt, sand, or kitty litter (a student's idea). We can't wait for the results! I am asking for your support to help my students continue to strive towards excellence...and let me tell you, they are pretty excellent little humans. :)
