I want to help kids, most of whom have not traveled much or met many different types of people, view History through the human experience. In this novel, we have a young, white girl, kidnapped by Native Americans. An old soldier is enlisted to help find her and bring her back. The title comes from the fact that in his old age he has become a man who travels to small towns in the West to read News of The World. I cannot find any lesson plans that show any teachers using this beautiful book for their classes. I guess I'll be a pioneer.
