Using Kindle Fire 7 tablets, students will use QR codes to give book reviews on books they have read. When a student finishes a chapter book, they will record a 1 to 2 minute review/Book Talk (without spoiling the ending) and attach it to the book using a QR code they generated. The QR codes will be combined with Google Drive to create an automated log of all books read and reviewed by the class. The digital student reviews get students excited about reading books! They promote critical thinking and strong speaking skills, and give students ownership of their classroom library. My students need to read as much as possible. This project provides purpose and a high level of engagement. It goes beyond students reading books and logging their video reviews using QR codes. It is meant to create a thirst for technology, community, problem solving, and leadership. Ultimately, students will share with key stakeholders how they used technology for teaching and learning and make a case for expanding technology integration throughout the school.
