My school is an urban core Alternative Middle/High School, currently serving 6th-12th grade students. Many of our students come from multi-generational homes, single parent homes, and even grandparents as their caretakers. My students are sometimes transient and running from family members that are trying to harm them, thus creating education is not a priority in their lives. We are working on building a culture in our building where education is in the forefront and is an important component in our student's lives. I love raising the bar each day in my room, and watching the students work towards that bar in their personal achievements each day. I want to help guide my students to be productive citizens in every day of their lives, while giving then science skills to survive.
