The desks I chose for this project are specifically designed to promote collaboration. In my teaching, I've found that students seem to work better in groups of three. When the students collaborate, they can learn more then they ever imagined. These students need the collaboration to learn in math. They learn many life skills when collaborating as well, including helping others, developing critical thinking and reasoning, and being able to have a respectful argument over a problem to get the correct result. Those skills and collaboration in math will challenge them and get them ready to be out in the real world. These kids are going to be members of future communities, and we can develop them to be leaders and great people in the community.
