Having endured the challenges of Covid during their critical learning years of 2nd and 3rd grade, my fourth graders are arriving without the experiences and typical learning opportunities connected to mental health and Social-Emotional Learning ("SEL") they normally would have. I would like to make this a critical focus for their mental well-being which will lead to more productive, engaged, and self motivated learners. The caring of their own individual succulents in our classroom will be connected to daily/weekly lessons about "growth" - both their own and their plant's growth. The materials from Teacher Pay Teacher are social emotional units created for students in this age range to learn as well as for motivational posters to add to the walls of the classroom as reminders.
