Kindergarten is such an interesting grade to teach. We are teaching them the basics of grade school, community, and responsibility. As the year has progressed, I see my students flourishing into bright youngsters already. So far, our transitioning times are a little longer than I would like them to be and it's because majority of the class has to wait for one student from their table to bring them their materials. Each table has a captain that brings their group their folders and workbooks in a bin. I do this to minimize the number of little bodies moving around the classroom all at once. We are asking for donations to get seat sacks in order to help our transitioning times become shorter and flow easier throughout the day.
I am the only kindergarten classroom who does not have seat sacks for my students and I believe that with this purchase, my students will be able to be more on task since their materials are right by them and easy to access. My students work hard and try their best every day. With seat sacks they will get to working immediately after the lesson and clean up will not be so much of a hassle. Instead of me counting from 20 to clean up, I might just need to count from 10 or even 5. Eventually the students will become accustomed to getting and putting their materials away and transitioning. We are seeking for generous donors to help us get the seat sacks we deserve in order to work more efficiently and make more time in the classroom for other activities. Every second in a school day counts and it would be great if we could really use those extra transitioning seconds for more read-alouds and community building.
