My class is made up of awesome group of kids who are eager to learn new skills dispite their personal challenges. Some of the students have autism, speech delays, or they use a communication device because they have no verbal skills. Others have multiple disabilities and even physical needs. They love hands on activities and positive interactions with peers. We use a lot of visuals and manipulatives throughout the school day. The students run our school store, working the cash register and even shopping to keep it stocked! It is me, a teachers assistant, a one to one aide for each student and a couple of speech teachers in our classroom. We work with earning contracts and positive reinforcement.
