My school is a Title 1 school with a high free and reduced price lunch rate. My students come to me with little or no historical knowledge. Even with all this though, I have found that once they engage in the study of history, they become hooked! They truly want to know about the past and they ask great questions! Many of them were born in Florida and have an interest in finding out about our state's history, which includes the development of the railroads, industry and tourism. My goal is to foster this excitement by encouraging and developing lifelong learners. My school wants students to be engaged as critical thinkers throughout the curriculum and to always strive for excellence.
