Sports naturally have the infrastructure of the perfect character education. Our school is in a low socioeconomic area that faces many community obstacles and negative influences. Our goal is provide our student-athletes a positive environment where they are learning life lessons and taking advantage of all the benefits that team sports have to offer. Students who are connected to their school, perform better in school. As a Teacher and Athletic Director, I want to get as many students involved in after school sports as possible. I grew up in this neighborhood and I understand challenges that the students and their families are facing. Our Athletics Program currently borrows lower quality PE equipment to use during practices and games. The teams need their own, game quality soccer balls and basketballs in order to practice and play properly. My goal is to give every student the chance to be a part of a program with quality equipment, coaches and facilities.
