Hello! My name is Jael Holmes and I am English teacher and Coordinator of CY-Tech Magnet Academy- a program labeled as a "school within a school" at Tara High School in Baton Rouge, La. This unique program, which is based on the "P-Tech Model," offers students an opportunity to earn an Associate's Degree from our local community college concurrently with a high school diploma. CY-Tech is also corporately backed by global IT conglomerate, IBM. Acceptance into the program is not based solely on academic merit, but also upon the aptitude and other aspects of the "whole child". CY-Tech is made up of mostly minority students, who have been previously and/or are currently labeled "at-risk" (two or more years behind cognitively). We are eager learners who can benefit greatly from advanced technology integration and innovative learning practices in every class.
