I am the music teacher at a small Montessori school in Texas. We have a very diverse student population, and they're wonderful kids (aren't they all?) While it is a private school, we do have a limited budget, and I'm trying to grow my instrumentarium and technology so that I can offer my kids the most up-to-date experience possible! In my class, we learn to sing on pitch, play instruments, listen critically, and read and write music notation. We also dance and practice creative movement. Students are encouraged and inspired to write their own melodies, create new movements, explore emotions tied to music, and think outside the box.
