I teach 5th grade in a Madison Metropolitan school in Wisconsin. The population of my class is very diverse. ESL and special education students are often on my roster. Over 30% of our school's population live in poverty. My students work best in collaborative groups with various options for seating. Unfortunately, school funds are not allocated for this due to extreme budget cuts. Students at this age are very social and enthusiasm for learning is waning. I want to do all I can to keep the kids engaged in their learning and eager to come to school!
